Young and Beautiful (The Great Gatsby soundtrack)

Have you watched the movie The Great Gatsby? I haven't. Was it nice? I had heard mixed reviews.

The movie was on Singapore cinemas since May 16 2013 starring Tobey Maguire and Leonardo Dicaprio (Sorry I only recognise these two actors). It is an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel, The Great Gatsby. Maybe I should read the novel first.
"The Great Gatsby" follows the journey of Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz and bootleg kings. Nick arrives with the hope of achieving the American Dream, and the great fortune of a place next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby (Leonardo Dicaprio). It happens that he is also across the bay from his cousin, Daisy (Carey Mulligan), and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton), and Nick is thus drawn into the captivating world of the super-rich, their illusions, loves and deceits. However, as guileless Nick bears witness within and without the world he inhabits, he soon realises a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, all the while weaving it into a novel that holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

Lately the soundtrack of the movie, Young and Beautiful, has been on air quite frequently, attracting my attention. The song is sung by an American singer-songwriter, Lana Del Rey. It's a truly beautiful song. Have you heard it yet?

Will you still love me when I'm not young and beautiful.
Together with the film's director, co-writer, and co-producer Baz Luhrmann, Del Rey penned the original song "Young and Beautiful" for the soundtrack of the 2013 film adaptation of The Great Gatsby. The song will be released to contemporary hit radio as a single, and is being used as the film's kickoff single. A snippet of the track appeared in the official trailer for the film and played during the scene where the characters portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan express their romantic feelings for one another.

I've seen the world
Done it all, had my cake now
Diamonds, brilliant, and Bel-Air now
Hot summer nights mid July
When you and I were forever wild
The crazy days, the city lights
The way you'd play with me like a child

Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful
Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul
I know you will, I know you will
I know that you will
Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful

I've seen the world, lit it up as my stage now
Channeling angels in, the new age now
Hot summer days, rock and roll
The way you'd play for me at your show
And all the ways I got to know
Your pretty face and electric soul

Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful
Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul
I know you will, I know you will
I know that you will
Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful

Dear lord when I get to heaven
Please let me bring my man
When he comes tell me that you'll let me
Father tell me if you can

Oh that grace, oh that body
Oh that face makes me wanna party
He's my sun, he makes shine like diamonds

Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful
Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul
I know you will, I know you will
I know that you will
Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful
Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful
Will you still love me when I'm not young and beautiful
