Itacho Sushi

We had a light meal at Itacho Sushi located in Plaza Singapura. A snacking session, so there were not alot of orders.

The authentic way of eating sushi. It is illustrated on the place mat paper on the table.
Salmon with Soy Sauce $0.40 (UP$0.80) | Daily Limited | Popular
Roasted Squid Leg Sushi $1.20 (UP$2.40) | Popular
Promotion pieces. Only 2 orders per person.
The salmon sushi is a little to oily and the squid sushi, springy.
Octopus Sashimi $3.60 (3 slices)
It tastes fat fat juicy juicy springy
Swordfish Sushi $3.50 | Octopus Sushi $1.20
His orders. Did not try these.
Tomato Salad $4.80
Marked as "Recommended" in the menu. Quite nice and healthy.
Blue Fin Tuna Sushi $3.20 per piece
First bite, it does not taste as nice as expected base on its price. And there's wasabi in it.

Kith Bistro

Kith Bistro, located at Park Mall, newly opened in June 2012, serves all day breakfast as well as main courses like pasta and sandwiches. They have seatings indoors and outdoors and we opted to sit outdoors as I felt that the airconditioning was too cold.

We sat down, without any ushering (no sign to say to wait to be seated) and no one came to us with any menu. We went in to take the menu ourselves. We walked back in to place an order, as no one came. But well, the server seems apologetic about not taking our orders at the table. The other guests don't seem to have much problems like we did. Maybe we were just unlucky.

Signboard pointing towards the cafe at the road crossing
Big Breakfast $15.50
Includes 2 pc toasts, 2 eggs, sautéed tomato & mushroom, bacon and sausage
2pc Toast + 2 eggs $8.00
Bacon $3.00
Cappuccino $4.00, Ice Chocolate $6.00

The food is quite normal. I do love the taste of the sausage and the bacon. However, I would prefer my poached eggs less solid and more juicy. The menu consists of five sheets of A4 paper on a pretty, 4 tiled designed wooden clipboard. The first sheet lists down the specials for today, next two ala carte food listing with toasts, eggs, sandwiches, salad, pastas, next the drinks and the last alcoholic drinks. Did not manage to take a photo of the menu. The morning outdoor feeling is refreshing, but hey, it's next to a road, bit of an irony.

China Glaze

My nails had gone without any color for more than two months. Those who know me will know that my nails seldom take a rest. Since the disastrous Gelish Nails I did in June, they had outgrown and looked pretty bad. And my attempt on removal hurt my nails in the process. They had gotten really weak, thin and brittle.

So after two months of rest, I'm back to painting my nails with the nail polish given by GF. It's a China Glaze Nail Lacquer with Hardeners, color: Jetstream. It is nice to paint, the colour is sweet plum pink with mini glitter effect. The only thing is the brush. If they had the flat brush like OPI, it will be even easier to apply the color.

Side note: I will not attempt gelish nails again. Even though the color is very lasting, and scratches do no harm to the gelish nails, it is too harmful for my real nails.

Goodies from Faceshop Korea

GF received a box full of Faceshop Korea items from a friend and gave me some. Two collagen masksheets, one body whitening essence sample for the body and one mini bottle of i-don't-know-what-that-is sample. The stuff are in Korean and I cannot read Korean Hah! Thanks for the beauty treats!

Yummy beauty treats
The instructions for the body whitening essence is in Korean. So is the mini bottle

New Dainty Candy

Even though this blog is only one and a half weeks old, I had given it a new look. From the simple white and grey version, to a dark and pink version. Not much changes in the layout though. This new look and feel gives more credit to the blog's candy name. Version one took about two days, while version two took me half a day. Well, the structure and all the CSS are already in place, hence it's more of tweaking the colors and the design elements.

And yep. I love this new look. Do you?

Baker Talent

There is this little bakery shop that started up in Choa Chu Kang three months ago called Baker Talent. When it first started, they had huge promotions on buns, selling from as low as 60 cents. And the promotion got lots of attention and there were long queues for it. By the way, they still have these promotions now.

After tasting the buns myself, I am sure the long queue is not only caused by the cheap prices, but also because the buns taste fabulous. They have even more flavours to choose from as they keep coming up with new flavours. My current favourites are the Bo Luo and the Liu Sha buns.

Best eaten while it is still hot and fresh from the oven, over a cup of tea or coffee. They sell very fast, so the ones we buy are hot off the oven.

Huang Jin Liu Sha Bao 黄金流沙包 $0.90 (promo price)
The egg custard with salted egg york filling best eaten while it is still hot,
to savour the good taste while the filling is still in liquid form
Bo Luo Bun 菠萝包 $0.80 (promo price)
Love the crispy layer on the top of the bun. Best eaten while it's still hot.
The filling is something like pineapple, but luckily the pineapple taste is not too strong.
White Coffee Bo Luo Bun 白咖啡菠萝包 $0.90 (promo price)
Very nice coffee smell. The top of the bun is also crispy like the Bo Luo bun.

From my Foursquare check-ins, I got to know that they have branches at other parts of Singapore too.

Saturday, September 1, 2012

Hey there. Welcome.

This is not a food blog, even though the name much suggest it. It is an online space where I post about places I go, things I did, food I ate and stuff. I like to take photos of things I do and see. An amateur though. And most of the photos are taken by my iPhone 4.

This is a personal blog, but without the names and photos of people whom were with me, to protect them. And not advertising or badmouthing any. Just my personal opinion for my future reference.
A public personal blog, I would say.

Cheers.
