Irresponsible pet owner

Sighs... We have really inconsiderate neighbours. Yesterday morning, as hubby and I were to leave the house, he spotted a pile of poo at our corridor. This was like the 6th time we cleaned up after them. We had to clean the corridor before leaving and hubby was almost late for his appointment.

Later in the day, hubby fired another email (yep we emailed before but no action was done) to the town council for help.

Today they replied and carried out some action. I really hope the dog can read and be more considerate.

Banks' credit cards and their "marketing"

As an avid follower of kiasu-ism, I did what my "belief" told me to do: 宁可杀错也不可放过. And yet again, I was disappointed. I 杀错-ed. Sighs.

OCBC Robinsons credit card was having a roadshow in John Little the day I was shopping with girlfriends. The standee banner was marketing the credit card saying that by signing up the Robinsons credit card, upon approval, the applicant is able to receive $80 worth of vouchers that can be used in either Robinsons, John Little and Marks & Spencers. (Too bad I did not take a snapshot of the little booth)

So, being the kiasu me, I signed up for it. Girlfriend asked the promoter if there is any terms and conditions like spending a minimum before using the vouchers. Promoter said No. And guess what? Girlfriend and I both had our applications approved, and both of us were greatly surprised. There are three vouchers, in denomination of $50, $20 and $12. To spend the :
  • $50 voucher, which is only valid for Robinsons stores and is "Valid only with a minimum nett purchase of S$250 charged to your OCBC Robinsons Visa Elite or Platinum Card".
  • $20 voucher, which is only valid for M&S stores and is "Valid only with a minimum nett purchase of S$100 charged to your OCBC Robinsons Visa Elite or Platinum Card".
  • $12 voucher, which is only valid for John Little stores and is "Valid only with a minimum nett purchase of S$90 charged to your OCBC Robinsons Visa Elite or Platinum Card".

And of course other terms and conditions which the lady promoter failed to address. Of course, it was my own mistake to be greedy, obviously there are no free lunch in the world. Just letting off a little steam since the promoter did not do her homework, and was assuring us that we can just spend the vouchers at any of the 3 stores without minimum purchases. Now the vouchers are simply useless to me. I don't really usually spend THAT much in one go in these stores and I can't shop discounted items either.

Now, I do not know what to do with the OCBC Robinsons credit card that I greedily signed up for, and the OCBC Pink by-procedure-I-have-nochoice-but-to-signup-in-order-to-signup-for-the-Robinsons-creditcard Titanium credit card and the EasiCredit with cheque book, also a by-procedure-I-have-nochoice-but-to-signup-in-order-to-signup-for-the-Robinsons-creditcard

Girlfriend felt like cancelling all these especially after feeling so "cheated". Should I do that too?

Prince Taiwan Porridge

I wasn't feeling that well, with a pretty bad appetite the entire day, not able to finish my food. Hubby decided that we will have a light dinner. Taiwan porridge near Bukit Panjang. We went past the place several times and yet to try out the place.

The place was pretty full when we reached about 8pm. Maybe we expected more from the place due to its name. So when we went through to menu only to see a tse char list, and not really the Taiwanese delicacies that we were hoping for, we were a little disappointed. But we still placed our order. We chose "healthier", easy-on-the-stomach dishes.

Steamed Minced Pork with Egg Yolk - $7.00 (without GST) - When the dish came, our jaws dropped. Haha.. It looked very very very different from the menu and from the yummy steamed minced pork with egg yolk that we had in Taiwan. Ok, we gave it a chance, not judging a book by its cover. And sad to say, we were unable to finish even one third of it. The minced pork stinks badly. The hubby says the meat is not fresh. Even when I attempt to dip a piece of the meat in chilli to cover the taste, the foul taste is still there. Yucks. Disappointment.

Tapioca Leaves - $8.00 (without GST) - This dish, taste normal. Just that, it costs $8.00 for a plate of vegetables, with nothing else. A VERY very expensive plate of vegetables. Sorry. I am not happy with this dish at all. Not worth it.

Beancurd with Preserved Egg - $7.00 (without GST) - This looks nice. And luckily, it tastes nice too. Cold toufu and preserved egg with pork floss. I am glad that finally something tastes nice.

On the menu, they mentioned that the wet tissues are not refundable. So, we have to use them. Each wet tissue costs $0.30 (without GST).

The meal costs a total of $30.40 (includes 7% GST). Each bowl of sweet potato porridge costs $0.60 (without GST). I had a bottle of barley drink at $2.50 (without GST), while the hubby had a hot chinese tea at $1.50 (without GST).

To be honest, we were both very very disappointed in the dinner. I'm not sure if it was because of our choice of dishes, or maybe the food were not to our taste, especially since there are so many people dining there. Sorry, but I will not be going back there for a second time. No no...

Disappointed with Deals.com.sg, its merchant and Aramex

My hubby got me a surprise gift from Deals.com.sg for Valentines Day. It's a bouquet of small teddy bears. What comes as a bigger surprise was that despite the deal being titled with the intention to sell as a Valentines' Day gift, the bouquet did not come on the actual day. I only received it 12 days later. Delivery, and overall experience aside, I love the bouquet. It's very sweet.

My hubby purchased the bouquet online via this deal site, Deals.com.sg and indicated in the remarks to state that the delivery is to deliver to my office address on 14th February. But to his horror, on the actual day, I did not receive any bouquet and he felt sorry to me. He called Deals on 14th February and the answer he got from the phone call was "The delivery will not be taking place on 14th February and the delivery is done in batches and will be send out during the period of February. And despite putting the preferred delivery date, it does not confirm the delivery will be on that day. "

A deal, titled as "Valentines Day Idea", meaning to get customers to buy the item as a Valentines Day gift, isn't it meant to let the recipient receive it on the actual day?

This is the deal published on Deals.com.sg.

My hubby sent an unsatisfactory experience email to Deals.com.sg on the 15th February.

And Deals.com.sg replied the email on the 19th February saying,

Here's the tracking history of the the entire process my gift went through. The customer service said that the courier attempted to send on the 15th February 6:51pm, but indicated that no one was around. Sad to burst their bubble, but I was working overtime on 15th February and only left after 7pm. And there are other colleagues around even after I left. Even so on the 18th February. Both days I was working late.

The tracking history

My hubby replied on the same day, highlighting that we are not asking for refund, but we just need answers and the item to be DELIVERED. It was already 5 days past Valentines Day.

And in the second reply email, Deals.com.sg pushed everything to the delivery company. I understand that it's out of their control after items are dispatched to the delivery company. But still, the entire process was horrible. I only wanted things to be fixed and get my gift that my hubby had bought for me. I gotten my gift 12 days later and Aramex is the delivery company.

This is my first negative post. I do not wish to post negative blogposts, at most, I would just not blog about it. But we were so disappointed with the entire process that I just wish to share. Maybe it's not really anyone's fault, but, I still feel disappointed.

After this incident, and the incident with the Donut Maker deal purchase (View post - to be updated), I do not think that I would want to buy any more things from Deals.com.sg. I am just too disappointed.
