Song Fa Bah Kut Teh

Last Saturday, we had Bah Kut Teh for brunch. I think this is my third visit to Song Fa Bah Kut Teh, but it's my first visit to this unit. The previous two trips was to the unit at the corner, two doors down. We kinda prefer dining here as there is aircon. haha
Song Fa Bak Kut Teh – a name that has become etched in the minds of many Singaporeans since 1969. As a young man, founder Mr. Yeo Eng Song diligently worked as an assistant in a stall selling the traditional Teochew dish, acquiring valuable skills. Equipped with an enterprising spirit and a deep-rooted appreciation for Bak Kut Teh, Mr. Yeo Eng Song subsequently established the original Song Fa Bak Kut Teh at Victoria Street. He also innovated several side dishes to complement the peppery, aromatic soup. Today, this popular yet authentic dish has attained remarkable results, and Song Fa has no doubt earned its prominent place in the local food scene.

When we reached, there was not many people, around three tables of patrons including us. But as the time nears 12 noon, around 11.45am, there were more people. Mostly tourists. A huge group of tourists occupied the two long Reserved table at the back. In front of us, the two ladies seems to be from Taiwan, and the two ladies next to us are from Japan. Cool... I didn't realise Song Fa Bah Kut Teh is such a hot place for tourists =P

We ordered almost the same previously.
  • Pork Ribs Soup 排骨肉骨茶 [$6.50] - Small
  • Braised Pig's Trotter 卤猪脚 [$6.00] - Small
  • Groundnuts 土豆 [$2.20]
  • Dough Fritter 油条 [$1.00]
  • Plain Rice [$0.60 each]
  • Iced Water [$0.30]
  • Iced Chinese Teabag tea [$1.00]
  • Wet Tissue [$0.20 each]

Like the taste overall. The pork ribs is easy to eat, came off the bone easily. The pig's trotter is soft and tender, I don't really feel sinful eating it. It taste nicer to dip the youtiao into the soup. The taiwanese lady was asking the waiter on how to eat the youtiao.

I am happy that they refill our bah kut teh soup. I happen to go to one, the lady said that we ordered small portion, no refill... And the soup was like so little...

Do remember that the place is not opened on Mondays. Pork is not available in the market as the resource is in the process of being imported.
