八度空间 8 Degrees Taiwanese Bistro

A new restaurant opened near my workplace. Taiwanese food. Interesting. Intended to try out this place during lunch, but it seems bustling during lunch hour, so it sets me off in another direction. Anyway, girlfriend was free for dinner, so I suggested this place.

Taiwanese food and Jay Chou as a theme? I wonder if permission was granted for his photos? Or like my friend said, that this 3rd outlet along with the first two belongs to the singer-actor-director? Can't find anything that mention this in their website. I wonder...

I was sure we were not accompanied by Jay's voice throughout the dinner, even though the website mentioned this:
Together with your family and friends, enjoy well-loved Taiwanese specialities with Jay Chou’s songs playing in the background at 8 Degrees.

There was only another table of patrons other than us when I first sat down. But as the evening progressed, more customers came in.

Jay's looking back at you...

八度珍珠奶茶 8° bubble tea [$3.80] - The tea is not too bad, but the pearls are a little small. Not shiok enough haha.

淑鹽芝士薯條 8° five spice fries with cheese [$4.80] - Nice. Cheesy. But what were the five spices? Didn't really taste that. But the cheese is yum. Remember to save some cheese for the fries at the bottom, as the cheese only covered the surface.

八度滷肉飯 8° stewed pork belly rice [$3.80] - It's a small bowl of pork belly rice. The first bowl was rejected by girlfriend as the rice seems uncooked. The second bowl was better. Service lady said that the rice for this dish used is the pearl rice, hence the hard texture. But we both tried before rejecting, and we were sure that it was uncooked.

八度涼麵 8° cold noodle [$5.80] - Sad to say, it's not nice at all =( The sauce is weird. Very little noodles. And the noodles taste hard. I thought there should be more shaved peanuts too? For the price. Very very not worth.

Not really a place worth a return visit. But maybe we should try out the first outlet in Singapore? Maybe the standard is different?
